Concept Refinement

    This week Grace and I pitched our concept refinement idea to the class. We received much feedback, which we used to refine our concept even more. Overall, I think we did a good job presenting, with all of our main points being addressed and different aspects of our project being discussed. 

    Since we are doing the opening to a movie, attracting the audience is extremely important. We need to make it memorable, dramatic, and flashy. Appreciation seems to be associated with genres such as dramas, sad films, and even documentaries rather than comedies, romances, or thrillers. At the same time, however, Oliver and Bartsch found that individuals often reported both high levels of appreciation and enjoyment for many specific films, pointing to the idea that these responses are not opposite reactions, but rather reflect different dimensions that can co-occur. With this in mind, we can see that a dramatic, sad documentary would be a great way to make this film popular (Oliver and Bartsch 2010).

    When receiving feedback from our pitch, a critique was made about including more families and maybe some close friends instead of our immediate family. This was a critique that was very plausible and we could easily incorporate it into our film. Other critiques were made and we took them into consideration, such as a more refined plot line in order to keep the audience interested. By taking all of this into consideration, we could produce the best documentary possible. This accusation is proven by the fact that many successful writers and videographers respond to constructive criticism to produce the best project possible. For example, a statement made by a well-respected writer. I'm curious about the world, and I want to work with writers who share that curiosity--in identity and exploration Certainly it is important to think about what doesn't happen if we don't have a wide range of editors doing this work, but it is also crucial to talk about all the wonderful things that can happen when we do have a diverse pool of editors.(Dungy, 2020). With multiple editors, or in our case, multiple inputs, we can have the best project possible.    

    All in all, I am very happy with the feedback we received and plan to utilize all criticisms given to us.
